From lawyering to lecturing to learning

Hi there, I’m Michele — a lawyer, educator, writer, and pracademic with a background in succession law and over two decades of combined legal and education experience. After many years in legal practice and lecturing, I left legal practice to explore how education, technology, and humanism intersect — particularly in legal education and postgraduate learning environments.

My professional life sits at the intersection of law, education, technology and humanity. I bring a practitioner’s insight and a scholar’s curiosity to conversations about how we prepare lawyers to be not only competent but also thoughtful, ethical, and human-centred. I enjoy reading and researching law as it relates to my work, but also from a never-ending drive of curiousity in law and education that I doubt will ever leave me (for better or worse!).

In my legal education work, I educate, design, write, and create learning experiences that are practical, authentic, and grounded in the realities of legal practice. I bring a passion for education, ethics, and innovation to the learning experience. I am dedicated to empowering students with critical thinking skills, creativity, and technological fluency, built for the future. I’m forever interested in how we can use education — and especially technology — to prepare lawyers to think critically, act ethically, and grow into their professional identities with confidence and humanity.

My use of this blog is about lawyering, education, succession law, technology and other tools and the connections in between. I share these things here in this blog and through my podcast forever learning out loud and sharing my education openly with others. I have always been a reflective practitioner and professional and truly believe there’s great value in being so inclined. All of us are learners, throughout legal practice and throughout life.

Research interests

I adore research and find my personal curriculum including legal education, neurodiversity, technology, humanism and professionalism. I’m particularly interested in how technology and AI shape the ways we teach, learn and practice law, and how these tools influence our understanding of what it means to be a capable, ethical, and inclusive legal practitioner. I also maintain a strong interest in the ethical and social dimensions of succession law, particularly disentitling conduct in family provision claims.

My research and writing interests are always grounded in human-centred, reflective, and relational approaches to both law and education.
